Available Postdoctoral Research Positions

Currently, there are no positions available in the De Lay Laboratory; however, we are always looking foward to recruiting talented Postdoctoral Research Fellows when additional funding becomes available. If you have interest in working in the De Lay laboratory, please feel free to contact Dr. Nicholas R. De Lay at nicholas.r.delay@uth.tmc.edu for further information.

The major areas of interest of the De Lay laboratory are: (1) to understand how polynucleotide phosphorylase, an enzyme highly conserved in bacteria and eukaryotes, impacts sRNA stability and function in E. coli, (2) to discover additional proteins involved in sRNA-mediated regulation of gene expression and elucidate their roles, and (3) to understand the role of sRNAs in regulating Streptococcus pneumoniae virulence. S. pneumoniae is an important human pathogen and is the leading cause of bacterial pneumonia and sepsis.
